- WEEK 24 UNIT 16: WHERE’S THE POST OFFICE? LESSON 1 (1 - 3) Time: Tuesday, March 15th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Use the words, phrases related to the topics: asking for and giving directions. - Sentence Patterns: Excuse me, where’s the ___? – It’s ____. - Vocabulary: bus stop, next to, stadium/ pharmacy, opposite, market / theatre, between, cinema, supermarket / museum, on the corner of the street. 2. Skills - Develop listening, reading and speaking skill 3. Attitude/ Quality - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love friends, teachers. - Be polite and know more about your place. 4. Forming competence - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about about directions. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Excuse me, where’s the ___? – It’s ____. - Vocabulary: bus stop, next to, stadium/ pharmacy, opposite, market / theatre, between, cinema, supermarket / museum, on the corner of the street. Look, listen and repeat - Have pupils look at the pictures - Elicit the answer to the questions: Who’s she? Where are they ? – They’re reading a story -Tell them that they are going to hear the dialogue between them about asking direction. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books.
- - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. - Explain the words: theater, museum, between, on the corner, toilet - Elicit the model sentences: Where’s the park? Go straight ahead, It’s at the end of the street. Activity 3. Point and say - Tell sts that they are going to practice asking and giving directions - Have them look at the pictures and places given - Point at picture a and ask sts to give the direction - Get them to practice in pairs to ask and answer - Run through the phrases - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to ask and answer in pairs - Give feedback Activity 4. Let’s talk - Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about directions. - Get sts to work in pairs to ask and answer - Monitor and help sts - Call some pairs act out their work - Give feedback Activity 5. Wrap up - Give an instruction to show how you go from your house to your school UNIT 16: WHERE’S THE POST OFFICE? LESSON 2 (1 - 3) Time: From Wednesday, March 16th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Knowledge - Use the words, phrases related to the topics: asking for and giving directions. - Sentence Patterns: Excuse me, where’s the ___? – It’s ____. - Vocabulary: bus stop, next to, stadium / pharmacy, opposite, market / theatre, between, cinema, supermarket / museum, on the corner of the street. 2. Look, Listen and repeat - Have pupils look at pictures with names of means of transports - Run through and explain the key words: take a boat/ coach/ go by plane - Model (a) - How can I get to the post office? + You can walk for five minutes. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Ask sts work in pairs to practice asking and answering about means of transport base on the model. - Call some pairs say aloud in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 3. Let’s talk - Have stst read aloud the questions given with two parts of places (near -places around where we live and far – other cities/ countries) - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about means of transport to go somewhere - Run through. - Give instruction. - Model: A: How can I get to the market? B: You can go by motorbike for 5 mins. A: How can I get to Ha Noi? B: You can take a coach. - Give sts 5 mins for sts practice - Get sts to work in groups of three to interact. - Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class. - Check ss’ pronunciation. Activity 5. Wrap – up - Tall about means of transports to go some places UNIT 16: WHERE’S THE POST OFFICE? LESSON 3 (1 - 3) Time: From Friday, March 18th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Say the sentences with the correct intonation. + Where’s the post office? ̶ It’s opposite the stadium. + Where’s the cinema? ̶ It’s next to the post office. + Where’s the supermarket? ̶ It’s on the corner of the street. - Listen and circle the letters showing the correct answers. Then ask and answer. - Say the chant: How can we get there? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Develop listening and speaking skill. 3. Attitude/ Quality - Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends. - Educate Ss how to keep safe and prevent accidents. 4. Forming competence - Co-operation (Ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about the listening task and read the chant.
