  1. WEEK 33 Thursday, May 4th 2023 UNIT 20: WHICH ONE IS MORE EXCITING, LIFE IN THE CITY OR LIFE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE? Lesson 2 (4-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Use the words, phrases related to the topics Comparing places. Ask and answer questions to compare places (adjectives with one or two or three syllables), using Which one is ..., ... or ...? I think ... - Read, listen, and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gapped sentences. - Read and fill the gapped conversation, using the words provided. - Pay the game: Pass the secret. 2. Skills. - Develop listening, reading and speaking skill. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love friends, teachers. - Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about the they have been. II. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Read and complete: - Tell sts that they are going to complete the dialogue with the 5 words and phrases given. - Give sts few seconds to read the dialogue in silence. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary - Get sts to work in pairs. - Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Divide the class into two groups and get them to read aloud the dialogue * Key: 1. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Say the sentences with the correct intonation. + Which one is bigger, London or Hue? ̶ I think London is. + Which one is more beautiful, Ha Long City or Nha Trang? ̶ I think Ha Long City is. - Listen and mark the sentence intonation ( or ). Then say the sentences aloud. - Say the chant Which one is more ? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills. - Say questions and answers with the correct intonation. - Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love friends, teachers. - Love themselves. 4. Listen and repeat: - Have sts to look at the overhead’s screen, draw their attention to the sentences intonation - Play CD for sts listen - Have sts repeat the focused on the sentence intonation a few times. - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors. - Call on someone to read aloud. - give feedback 2. Listen and mark the sentence intonation. Then say the sentences aloud: - Have pupils lool at the questions and answers given - Tell sts that they are going to the recording and remark the sentence intonation of each sentence. - Play CD all the way through for them to listen - Play again for them to remark - Have sts swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Then ask the class to say the sentences aloud - Give feedback 3. Let’s chant - Show the chant “What do you think of it” - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension (Which place? How?) - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups. - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment
  4. - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation III. Wrap-up - Ask sts make out some more sentences and read with the right intonation - Practice chanting.
