Objectives: By the end of this lesson pupils can: - Read and listen to the short story. - Answer the questions. - Unscramble the words from the story. - Read and complete the conversation. - Work in pairs. Imagine they are sick. Talk about how they feel. - Read and match the questions with the answers. B. Language focus - Vocabulary: Unit 11 - 15 - Sentence patterns: Unit 11 - 15 C. Teaching aids 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks. D. Procedures 1. Read and listen to the story - Ask ss to listen to the story twice - Have ss to practice reading in pairs - Call some pairs to read - Comment 2. Answer the questions: - Ask ss to read the questions given - Read and answer - Call some pairs to read the questions and answers - Correct and give comment * Key: 1. No, he isn’t. 2. He has a headache, a stomachache and a fever. 3. He’s going to the zoo with Maurice and Doris. 4. No, they can’t. 5. He can stay in bed. 3. Wrap-up: - Have ss practice speaking these learnt structures. UNIT 16: WHERE’S THE POST OFFICE? Lesson 1 (1, 2, 3) A. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Use the words, phrases related to the topics: asking for and giving directions. - Sentence Patterns: Excuse me, where’s the ___? – It’s ____. - Vocabulary: bus stop, next to, stadium / pharmacy, opposite, market / theatre, between, cinema, supermarket / museum, on the corner of the street. 2. Skills. - Develop listening, reading and speaking skill 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love friends, teachers. - Be polite and know more about your place. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about about directions. B. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Where are they ? – They’re reading a story -Tell them that they are going to hear the dialogue between them about asking direction. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. - Explain the words: theater, museum, between, on the corner, toilet - Elicit the model sentences: Where’s the park? Go straight ahead,> It’s at the end of the street. 2. It’s ... - Listen and tick the table. - Read and complete the sentences, using the words provided and the map. - Sing the song Where’s the bus stop? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: song lyrics 2. Skills. - Develop listening, reading and speaking skill 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love friends, teachers. - Love hometown and know more about places. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about about directions. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). B. B: You can go by motorbike for 5 mins. A: How can I get to Ha Noi? B: You can take a coach. - Give sts 5 mins for sts practice - Get sts to work in groups of three to interact. - Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class. - Check ss’ pronunciation. III.
