- WEEK 2 Monday, September 11th 2023 Class 5A; Class 5B, 5C (on Thursday) Unit 1: What’s your address? Lesson 3 (1. 2. 3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pronounce two-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable: 'city, 'village, 'mountains, 'tower. - Listen and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gapped sentences. - Say the chant Where do you live? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Show pride and love to your hometown and respects to other’s hometown. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (Ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study ( can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about what a village/ town/ city is like, do the listening task and read the chant. II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation. 1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures I. Warm up: Interview - What’s your name? - Where are you from? - What’s your address?/ Where do you live? - What’s your vilage like? II. New lesson: 1. Listen and repeat: - Have sts to open the book page 10, draw their attention to the words - Produce the words: ‘city, ‘village, ‘mountains, ‘tower with the stress on the first syllable - Play CD for sts listen - Have sts repeat the focused on the stress a few times. - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat
- - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors. - Call on someone to pronounce. - Have the whole class recite the chant to reinforce their pronunciation. 2. Listen and circle a or b - Have ss read the sentences and phrases given - Get sts say aloud - Tell ss that they are going to listen to 3 dialogues and circle the words given to completet the sentences. - Play the recording twice for ss listen and circle the correct words. - Compare the answers with the partners. - Play the recording again ss check their answers. - T gets the answer: - Have ss act out the dialogues in pairs or groups for correction. - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. Answer: 1- b ; 2 - a ; 3 – a 3. Let’s chant - Show the chant “Where do you live” - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension (Where, How?) - Play the tape a few times. - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups. - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation. III. Reinforcement - In this lesson, sts have learned how to make stress the words with 2 syllables - Practice chanting. - Have ss to review vocab and structures. Prepare for next lesson. Unit 1: What’s your address? Lesson 3 (4. 5. 6. 7) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pronounce correctly the stress of the two syllable nouns - Read the paragraph, and tick the sentences Y (Y) or N (No). - Write about their friends, using the guiding questions. - Draw a house, write its address, and present the drawing to the class. - Colour the stars showing their English competences. 2. Skills: Listening, reading, writing and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality:
- - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love people and their hometown. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (Ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study ( can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about what a village/ town/ city is like, do the listening task and read the chant. II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Read and tick Yes (Y) or No (N) - Ask sts to open their book on page 23. - Give instruction. - Ask sts to read the sentences, underline the key words/ phrases before reading the passage to find relevant information. - Give an example: 1. parents / grandparents => Tick No - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. - Ask sts to work in pairs to check the answer - Call on some sts to report their answers. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the dialogue. - Have the whole class chorally read each line of the sentences to reinforce their pronunciation. * Key: 1. He’s from Ha Noi. His address is 74, Hung Vuong street. He lives with his family. He likes living there because it is a busy and beautiful city.
- 3. Project - Ask ss to draw a house and practice describing it (5 mins) - Call ss to show their houses and present their drawing - Display their drawings - Comment 4. Colour the stars - Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension - Invite sts to read statements aloud - Check their understanding the meaning - Give them to colour about degree that they got after the Unit 1 - Getting their ideas about difficulties to help III. Reinforcement: - Practice reading at home. - Have ss to prepare Unit 2. Friday, September 15th 2023 Class 5A, Class 5B; 5C (on next week) UNIT 2: I ALWAYS GET UP EARLY. HOW ABOUT YOU? Lesson 1 (1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about someone’s daily routine - Sentence Patterns: What do you do _____? I always / usually / often / sometimes _____. - Vocabulary: always brush my teeth, usually do morning exercise, often cook dinner, sometimes watch TV 2. Skills: - Speaking skill 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Should have good habits. - Love themselves. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about daily routine. II. Look, listen and repeat: - Have ss turn their books to Page 12 - Ask ss the names of the characters and what they are doing -Tell them that they are going to hear Quan and Tom chatting on the internet - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for ss to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play before the class. 2. Point and say: - Introduce the new words: always usually often sometimes brush (teeth) - Play the CD twice for sts listen and repeat - Explain the pattern: What do you do in the morning? I always/ often - Run throughthe key words/ phrases - Point at each picture and ask the question base on the model - Have sts practice asking and answering in pairs - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to speak to check their performance - Give feedback 3. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about someone’s daily routine - Listen and tick the correct pictures. - Read and complete the gapped paragraph with the words provided. - Sing the song This is the way we do things. - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: The song lyrics 2. Skills: - Speaking, listening and reading skill 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Should have good habits. - Love themselves. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about daily routine. II. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present....
