- WEEK 5 Grade 5 UNIT 3: WHEN DID YOU GO ON HOLIDAY? LESSON 3 (1 - 3) Time: From Monday to Tuesday (11th - 12th of October) A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Pronounce the three-syllable words with the stress on the first syllable: 'motorbike, 'underground, 'holiday, 'family. - Listen and circle the correct letters showing the words completing the sentences. - Say the chant Where did you go? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking skills 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love themselves, friends and teachers. 4. Competences: - Co-operation (Ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Words: ‘motorbike, ‘underground, ‘holiday, and ‘family C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - Students’ book (page 22) - Situational pictures and activity pictures on page 22 - poster - Laptop, TV C. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm up: Interview Interview -Where did you go on holiday? -How did you det there? Sing the “How did you get there?” song Activity 2. Listen and repeat - Have sts to look at the overhead’s screen, draw their attention to the words - Produce the words: ‘motorbike, ‘underground, ‘holiday, and ‘family with the stress on the first syllable - Play CD for sts listen - Have sts repeat the focused on the stress a few times. - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors. - Call on someone to pronounce. - Have the whole class recite the chant to reinforce their pronunciation.
- Activity 3. Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences - Have pupils read the sentences and phrases given - Get sts say aloud - Tell the pupils that they are going to listen to 4 dialogues and circle the words given to completet the sentences. - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and circle the correct words. - Compare the answers with the partners. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. - T gets the answer: - Have pupils act out the dialogues in pairs or groups for correction. - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. * Answer: 1- a ; 2 - a ; 3 – b ; 4 -a Activity 4. Let’s chant - Show the chant “Where did you go?” - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension + Where did he go? + How did he go? - Play the tape a few times. - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups. - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 4. Wrap -up Summary the lesson - In this lesson, sts have learned how to make stress the words with 3 syllables - Practice chanting. UNIT 3: WHEN DID YOU GO ON HOLIDAY? LESSON 1. 4; LESSON 2. 5 + LESSON 3. 6 Time: From Tuesday to Wednesday (12th - 13th of October) A. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Listen and math to know where someone went to - Write about to talk about their holiday - Intereview their friends about information about the trip (place, means of transports, what they did?) - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: Listening, reading and writing 3. Attitudes/ Quality

Warm – up Play “Slap the board” game train, bike, underground, taxi, coach, motorbike Activity 2. Listen and match - Have sts to look at 4 characters and 4 places - Elicit their name - Give instruction. - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and match people with the places that they went to - Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again for sts to check their answers. - Announce the answers. - Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text. *Key: 1.c 2.d 3. b 4.a Activity 3. Write about your last holidays - Have pupils look at the questions given - Ask pupils what they do this part - Tell them that they are going to write the answer base on the questions about holiday - Call on a pupil to write on the board and other pupils write in the notebooks in individuals. - Have pupils discuss their answers in pairs for correction. - Have pupils comment the answer on the board. - Call some pupils read aloud their work in front of the class. - Have the class chorally read each line. * Suggested answer: 1. Wrap -up Summary the lesson Guide sts to write their retelling task. UNIT 4: DID YOU GO TO THE PARTY? LESSON 1 (1 - 3) Time: From Thursday to Friday (14th-15h of October) A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about whether someone did something. - Sentence Patterns: Did you .? – Yes, I did. / ̶ No, I didn’t. - Vocabulary: go on a picnic, enjoy the party, join the funfair, watch TV 2. Skills Listening and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love themselves, friends and teachers. 4. Forming competence - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about frequency. Look, listen and repeat • Whole class: Have pupils turn their books to Page 24 - Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they are doing -Tell them that they are going to hear Tom, Phong, Mai and Linda talking about Nam’s birthday - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. Activity 3. Point and say - introduce the new words: Enjoy (synonym) join (situaation) funfair (visual) a lot of (explanation) - Play the CD twice for sts listen and repeat - Explain the pattern: Did you enjoy Nam’s party? Yes, I did. - Run throughthe key words/ phrases - Point at each picture and ask the question base on the model - Have sts practice asking and answering in pairs - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to speak to check their performance - Give feedback Activity 4. Let’s talk - Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about whetehr someone did something - Get sts to work in pairs to act out to ask if they did something in 5 mins - remind them to use the questions and answers in their books - Monitor and help sts - Call some groups act out their work - Give feedback Activity 5: Wrap up - Have sts retell the content of the lesson. - Do ex B1 in workbook
