- WEEK 3 Grade 5 UNIT 2: I ALWAYS GET UP EARLY. HOW ABOUT YOU? LESSON 1 (1 - 3) Time: From Monday to Tuesday (27th-28th of September) A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about frequency - Pupils can ask and answer questions about frequency. - Sentence Patterns: How often do you ____? − I ____ every day / once / twice a week / month. - Vocabulary: study with a partner, go to the library, go fishing, ride a bicycle to school every day, once a week, once a month, twice a week 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Should have good habits. - Love themselves. 4. Forming competence - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about frequency. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: - What do you do .? + I always/ usually/ often/ sometimes .. - Vocabulary: always, usually, often, sometimes, brush (teeth) C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - Students’ book (page 12) - Situational pictures and activity pictures on page 12. - Pictures of daily activities - Laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Warm up: Watching a video Daily routine - Get sts retell what he does every morning - Give feedback Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat • Whole class: Have pupils turn their books to Page 12 - Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they are doing - Tell them that they are going to hear Quan and Tom chatting on the internet - Explain the meaning of the language practised.
- - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. Activity 2: Point and say - introduce the new words: always usually often sometimes brush (teeth) - Play the CD twice for sts listen and repeat - Explain the pattern: What do you do in the morning? I always/ often - Run throughthe key words/ phrases - Point at each picture and ask the question base on the model - Have sts practice asking and answering in pairs - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to speak to check their performance - Give feedback Activity 3: Let’s talk - Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about someone’s daily routine - Get sts to work in pairs (or go around) to ask each other’s addresses in 5 mins - remind them to use the questions and answers in their books - Monitor and help sts - Call some groups act out their work - Give feedback Activity 4: Wrap up - Have sts retell the content of the lesson. - Do ex B1 in workbook Grade 5 UNIT 2: I ALWAYS GET UP EARLY. HOW ABOUT YOU? LESSON 2 (1 - 3) Time: From Tuesday to Thursday (28th - 30th of September) A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1. Knowledge:
- - Pronounce the words with the stress on the first syllable: 'always, 'usually, 'often, 'sometimes. - Listen and circle the correct letters showing the words filling the gapped sentences. - Say the chant: What do you do in the morning? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills: - Listening, and speaking skills 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Should have good habits. - Love themselves. 4. Competences: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ group work). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to pronounce the stress of frequency words through doing listening task and read the chant. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: - How often .. .? + I .. every day, - Vocabulary: every day, once/ twice a week/ month C. - - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. => Elicit the modal sentences: Nam: How often do you come to the library? Activity 3: Point and say - Have pupils look at pictures. - Run through the phrases and words - Use flashcards to teach the question and answer in the speech bubbles. - Have sts repeat the phrases a few times. - Model (a) Nam: How often do you study with your partner? Mai: I study with my partner every day. - Give instruction - Point to each picture and how often they do things to fill the gaps. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask sts work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their ronunciation. Activity 4: Let’s talk - Have stst read aloud 2 questions given - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about frequency - Run through. - Give instruction. - Model: A: What do you do in the morning? B: I often go to school. A: How often do you go to school? B: I go to school every day. - Give sts 3 mins for sts practice (about themselves) - Get sts to work in groups of three to interact. - Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class. - Check ss’ pronunciation. Activity 5: Wrap up - Have sts retell the content of the lesson. - Do ex B1 in workbook

Where are you from? What do you do in the morning? How often do you go to school? Activity 1. Listen and repeat - Have sts to look at the overhead’s screen, draw their attention to the words - Produce the words: ‘always, ‘usually, ‘often, and ‘sometimes with the stress on the first syllable - Play CD for sts listen - Have sts repeat the focused on the stress a few times.
- - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors. - Call on someone to pronounce. - Have the whole class recite the chant to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 2. Listen and circle a or b. The say the sentences aloud - Have pupils read the sentences and phrases given - Get sts say aloud - Tell the pupils that they are going to listen to 4 dialogues and circle the words given to completet the sentences. - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and circle the correct words. - Compare the answers with the partners. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. - T gets the answer: - Have pupils act out the dialogues in pairs or groups for correction. - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. Answer: 1- a; 2 - b; 3 – a ; 4 -b Activity 3. Let’s chant - Show the chant “What do you do in the morning” - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension (What they do, How often?) - Play the tape a few times. - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups. - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 4. Wrap -up Summary the lesson - In this lesson, sts have learned how to make stress the words with 2 syllables - Practice chanting.
