- WEEK 27 UNIT 19: WHICH PLACE WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT ? LESSON 1 (1 - 3) Time: Tuesday, April 5th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer about which place someone would like to visit. - Sentence Patterns: Which place would you like to visit, __ or __? – I’d like to visit ____. - Vocabulary: the Museum of history / bridge, pagoda City theatre, temple 2. Skills - Develop listening, reading and speaking skill 3. Attitude/ Quality - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love friends, hometown. - Know more places in hometown, in country. - Show pride of our country. 4. Forming competence - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about the places in Nam’s country. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Which place would you like to visit, __ or __? – I’d like to visit ____. - Vocabulary: the Museum of history / bridge, pagoda City theatre, temple C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - places pictures - laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up Network theatre museum park Place post office s market cinema Activity 2. Look, listen and repeat - Elicit the character - Look at the pictures to identify the characters (Peter and Nam) and the context in the book guess what the story is about and point at each picture to elicit their answers to these questions. - Introduce the dialogue. - Play the recording - Listen follow in their book. - Ss listen and repeat in chorus two times. - Have sts read in group of 3 to act out the dialogue
- - Elicits the structure - Ss give new structure sentence: A: Which place would you like to visit, .. or ? B: I’d like to visit .. Activity 3. Point and say - Teach vocabulary: pagoda, museum, temple, theatre - Note write down new words and read after T. Play game: What and where (Whole class) - Say phrases under the pictures. - Model sentence. - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Look and find out the model sentences. - Point the pictures and practise asking and answering question: Which place would you like to visit, .or .? I’d like to visit .. - Have sts use the prompts under the pictures to practice asking and answering. - All pairs perform their task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments. - Check and correct Activity 4. Let’s talk - Give task - Have sts that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about the places they would like to visit; far or not? How to get there? - Have sts work in groups of 4 - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Pupils practise answering the questions with information about themselves. - Correct their pronunciation and mistake Activity 5. Wrap up - Practice saying where you would like to go UNIT 19: WHICH PLACE WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT ? LESSON 2 (1 - 3) Time: From Wednesday, April 6th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about the other speaker’s opinions about a place. - Sentence Patterns: What do you think of ___? − It’s more ___ than I expected. - Vocabulary: attractive, exciting, interesting, beautiful. 2. Skills - Develop listening, reading and speaking skill 3. Attitude/ Quality - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love friends, hometown. - Show pride of our country. 4. Forming competence
- - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about the places in Nam’s country. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: What do you think of ___? − It’s more ___ than I expected. - Vocabulary: attractive, exciting, interesting, beautiful. C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up Singing the song “Which place would you like to visit?” Activity 2. Look, Listen and repeat - Introduce the dialogue. - The class listen - Look at the pictures in the book guess what the story is about and point at each picture to elicit their answers to these questions . - Play the recording - Sts Listen follow in their book. - Ss listen and repeat in chorus two times. - Read in pairs: One repeats Linda’s part, the other repeats Tom’s part - Elicit the model sentences: What do you think of Tran Quoc Pagoda? It’s more beautiful than I expected Activity 3. Point and say - Teach vocabulary: attractive, exciting, interesting - Elicits the structure - Ss give new sentence: What do you think of ? It’s more . than I expected. - Look and find out the model sentences. - Point the pictures & practise asking & answering questions given - Model sentence. - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary - 2 - 3 pairs perform their task at the front of the class. - The rest of the class observe and give comments. Activity 4. Let’s talk - Give tasks. - Have sts ask and answer questions about a place and opinions about it Where did you go .? I went to .. What do you think of ..? It’s more .. than I expected. - Ss work in pairs to ask and answer about themselves. - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Correct their pronunciation and mistake - 6-7 pairs perform their task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments.
- Activity 5. Wrap – up - Talk about what you think of some places UNIT 19: WHICH PLACE WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT ? LESSON 3 (1 - 3) Time: From Friday, April 8st 2022 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Say the sentences with the correct intonation. - Read, listen and mark the sentence intonation ( or ). Then say the sentences aloud. - Say the chant: What do you think of it? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Develop listening, reading and speaking skill 3. Attitude/ Quality - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love friends, hometown. - Show pride of our country. 4. Forming competence - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about the places in Nam’s country. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, loudspeaker, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm-up Read some questions in wrong intonations for sts correct Activity 2. Listen and repeat - Have sts to look at the overhead’s screen, draw their attention to the sentences intonation - Play CD for sts listen - Have sts repeat the focused on the sentence intonation a few times. - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors. - Call on someone to read aloud. - Give feedback Activity 3. Listen and mark the sentence intonation. Then say the sentences aloud - Have pupils lool at the questions and answers given
- - Tell sts that they are going to the recording and remark the sentence intonation of each sentence. - Play CD all the way through for them to listen - Play again for them to remark - Have sts swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Then ask the class to say the sentences aloud - Give feedback Activity 4. Let’s chant - Show the chant “What do you think of it” - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension (Which place? How?) - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups. - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation Activity 5. Wrap -up - Summary the lesson - At home: Practice saying the sentences in part 1, 2 and give some more examples
