  1. WEEK 20 UNIT 14: WHAT HAPPENED IN THE STORY? LESSON 1 (1 - 3) Time: Tuesday, January 25th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about what happened in a story. - Pupils can ask and answer questions about what happened in a story. - Sentence Patterns: What happened in the story? – First, / Then, / Next, / In the end, _ - Vocabulary: king, order, watermelon, seed, 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Every story has its lesson. Read more to learn more. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about a story in the past. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up Change verbs into past form Verb Verb (P) find found give gave grow grew exchange exchanged Activity 2. Look, listen and repeat - Have pupils look at the pictures - Elicit the answer to the questions: Who’s he/ she? What are they doing? – They’re reading a story What’s the name of story? -Tell them that they are going to hear Peter telling a story - Explain the meaning of the language practiced and some new words: king, order, watermelon, seed - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books.
  2. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. - Explain the words: First, Then, next, In the end - Elicit the model sentences: What happened in the story? First, King Hung ordered . Activity 3. Point and say - Tell stst that they are going to practice telling the story in order by answering the questions: What happened in the story? - Have them look at the pictures and read the paragraphs of the story - Point at picture a and ask sts to tell what happened - Get them to practice in pairs to ask and answer abut each picture - Run through the phrases - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to ask and answer in pairs - Give feedback Activity 4. Let’s talk - Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about The Story of mai An Tiem. - Get sts to work in pairs to ask and answer - Monitor and help sts - Call some pairs act out their work - Give feedback Activity 5. Wrap up - Tell the main content of the story you like best. UNIT 14: WHAT HAPPENED IN THE STORY? LESSON 2 (1 - 3) Time: FromTuesday- Wednesday, January 25th-26th h 2022 A. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about someone’s opinions of a book/ story/ character - Sentence Patterns: What do you think of ..? − I think .. - Vocabulary: the mouse, intelligent / An Tiem, hard-working / the older brother, greedy / Snow White, kind 2. Skills - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality - Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends. - Be a good man.

Look, Listen and repeat - Set the scene: - Elicit the context of the picture - Have sts look at the pictures and guess the name of the story - Check comprehension by pointing at each picture to elicit the content for each picture - Play CD for sts listen and follow in their books - Play again – sts repeat - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. => Elicit the model sentences: - What do you think of ? + I think Activity 3. Point and say - Have pupils look at pictures with names of characters and their charactistics - Run through and explain the key words: Intelligent, hard- working, greedy, kind - Model (a) - What do you think of the mouse? + I think It’s intelligent - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Ask sts work in pairs to practice asking and answering base on the model. - Call some pairs say aloud in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language.
  4. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 4. Let’s talk - Have stst read aloud 2 questions given - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about a book, a story or a character - Run through. - Give instruction. - Model: A: What kind of stories do you like? B: I like Snow White and seven dwarves A: What do you think of Snow White? B: I thinkshe’s kind.. - Give sts 5 mins for sts practice - Get sts to work in groups of three to interact. - Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class. - Check ss’ pronunciation. Activity 5. Wrap – up - Tall about your characters in the story you like best
