- WEEK 15 UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? LESSON 1 (1 + 2) Time: From Monday - Tuesday, December 20th, 21st 2021 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about when a school event will happen. - Sentence Patterns: When will ______be? – It’ll be on ____. - Vocabulary: Sports Day, Saturday / Teachers’ Day, Sunday / Independence Day, Thursday / Children’s Day, Friday 2. Skills - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - Confident in communicating with classmates - To help Ss loving English, love sports and school events. - Practicing sports do good for your health. 4. Forming competence - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends - Can perform individual tasks and solve a problem themselves. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: - When will . be? + It’ll be on . - Vocabulary: sport, Independence C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - pictures - laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up Network Teachers’ day Children’s day Days Independence Day women’s day - Get sts tell the names of days for celebrations they know - Give feedback and add more Activity 2. Look, listen and repeat - Have pupils look at the screen the dialogue between Mai and Tony - Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they are doing -Tell them that they are going to hear Mai and Tony talking about a sports day - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books.
- - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. - Elicit the model sentences: When will Sports Day be? It’ll be on Saturday. Activity 3. Point and say - Retell the names of stories given: - Play the CD twice for sts listen and repeat - Explain the pattern: When will Sports Day be? It’ll be on Saturday. - Pre- teach vocab: Sport (examplae) Independence (Situation) - Run through the key words/ phrases - Point at each picture and ask the question base on the model - Have sts practice asking and answering in pairs - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to speak to check their performance - Give feedback Activity 4. Let’s talk - Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about school events - Get sts to work in pairs to act out to ask and answer - Remind them to use the questions and answers in their books When will _________ be? – It’ll be on _____________. - Monitor and help sts - Call some groups act out their work - Give feedback Activity 5. Wrap up - Tell class a holiday will be on . UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? LESSON 2 (1 - 3) Time: From Tuesday – Wednesday, December 21st, 22nd 2021 A. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about what the other speaker is going to do on Sports Day. - Sentence Patterns: What are you going to do on Sports Day? − I’m going to ___. - Vocabulary: play, basketball, football, table tennis, badminton 2. Skills - Listening and speaking.
- 3. Attitude/ Quality - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - Confident in communicating with classmates - To help Ss loving English, animals 4. Forming competence - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends - Can perform individual tasks and solve a problem themselves - Use language to talk about animals. B. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm -up Sing the song: “When will sports Day be?” Activity 2. Look, Listen and repeat - Set the scene: - Elicit the context of the picture - Have sts look at the pictures and guess what the story is about - Check comprehension by pointing at each picture to elicit the content for each picture - Play CD for sts listen and follow in their books - Play again – sts repeat - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. => Elicit the modal sentences: What are you going to do on Sports Day? I’m going to .. Activity 3. Point and say - Have pupils look at pictures with activities - Run through the names of activities - Model (a) A: What are you going to do on Sports Day? B: I’m going to play basketball. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Ask sts work in pairs to practice asking and answering base on the model. - Call some pairs say aloud in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 4. Let’s talk - Have stst read aloud 2 questions given

B: I’m going to . - Give sts 3 mins for sts practice - Get sts to work in groups of three to interact. - Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class. - Check ss’ pronunciation. Activity 5. Wrap – up a. Summary the lesson - Have sts say what they are going to do - Checking - Give feedback UNIT 10: WHEN WILL SPORTS DAY BE? LESSON 3 (1 - 3) Time: From Tuesday – Friday, December 21st, 25th 2021 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Say the questions and the answers with the correct sentence stress - Listen and underline the stressed words. Then say the sentences aloud - Say the chant What are they going to do? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Develop Ss’ speaking and listening skills 3. Attitude/ Quality - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - Confident in communicating with classmates - Love school subjects, love to learn English 4. Forming competence - Prepare their own school things - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends, ready to help their friends. - Apply what they have learned to solve learning tasks B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Vocabulary: revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, loudspeaker D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm -up

When will Sporrts Day be? It’ll be on Sunday. 2. What are you going to do on Sports Day? I’m going to play table tennis. Activity 4. Let’s chant - Show the chant “What are they going to do?” - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension (When? What sports? How are they practice?) - Play the tape a few times. - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups. - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 5. Wrap -up - Summary the lesson - Have sts make 3 sentence at home and stress them
