  1. WEEK 13 UNIT 8: WHAT ARE YOU READING? LESSON 2 (1 - 3) Time: From Monday – Tuesday, December 6th, 7th 2021 A. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about what the character in a story is like. - Sentence Patterns: What’s _____ like? − He’s / She’s ______. - Vocabulary: hard-working, kind, clever, gentle 2. Skills - Listening and speaking 3. Attitude/ Quality - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - Confident in communicating with classmates - Love reading books. 4. Forming competence - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends - Can perform individual tasks and solve a problem themselves B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - What’s he/she . like? + He’s/ She’s .. - Vocabulary: hard-working, kind, clever, gentle C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm -up Answer What’s your fovourite book/ story? It’s What’s your favourite character? Activity 2. Look, Listen and repeat - Set the scene: - Elicit the context of the picture - Have sts look at the pictures and guess what the story is about - Check comprehension by pointing at each picture to elicit the content for each picture - Play CD for sts listen and follow in their books - Play again – sts repeat - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. => Elicit the modal sentences: Mai: What’s he like? Quan: He’s generous. Activity 3. Vocabulary

Point and say - Have pupils look at pictures with names of characters and their characstic - Run through the names of characters and their characstic - Model (a) A: What’s An Tiem like? B: He’s hard - working. - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Ask sts work in pairs to practice asking and answering base on the model. - Call some pairs say aloud in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 5. Let’s talk - Have stst read aloud 4 questions given - Tell the class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions relate to reading stories and the characters - Run through. - Give instruction. - Model: A: Do you like fairy tales? B: Yes, I do. A: What book are you reading? B: I’m reading Snow White and seven dwarf. A: What’s the main character like? B: She’s kind. A: Do you like her? B: Yes, I do. - Give sts 3 mins for sts practice (about their thought) - Get sts to work in groups of three to interact. - Call a few pairs to practise in front of the class. - Check ss’ pronunciation. Activity 5. Wrap – up a. Summary the lesson b. Guide sts to do exercises at home - Have sts do the ex C in WB. - Checking UNIT 8: WHAT ARE YOU READING?   3. A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Say the questions and the answers with the correct sentence stress. 'What are you 'reading? ̶ I’m 'reading The 'Fox and the 'Crow. 'What’s 'Snow 'White 'like ̶ She’s 'kind. - Listen and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gapped answers. Then say the sentences aloud. - Say the chant What are you reading? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Develop Ss’ speaking and listening skills 3. Attitude/ Quality - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson. - Confident in communicating with classmates. - Love reading books, love to learn English. 4. Forming competence - Prepare their own school things - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends, ready to help their friends. - Apply what they have learned to solve learning tasks B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Vocabulary: revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, loudspeaker D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm -up Review sentence stress ‘How do you ‘practice ‘speaking? Listen and repeat - Have sts to look at the overhead’s screen, draw their attention to the sentences - Play CD for sts listen - Have sts repeat the focused on the sentence stress a few times. - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors. - Call on someone to read aloud. - Give feedback Activity 3.   4. - Get sts say aloud - Tell the pupils that they are going to read and mark sentence stress. - Have sts do the task individually. - Compare the answers with the partners. - Gets the answer: Activity 4. Let’s chant - Show the chant “What are you reading?” - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension (Who? What’s he/ she like?) - Play the tape a few times. - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups. - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 5. Wrap -up - Summary the lesson - Do exercises E in workbook UNIT 9: WHAT DID YOU SEE AT THE ZOO? LESSON 1 (1 + 2) Time: From Tuesday - Friday, December 7th, 10th 2021 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge Ask and answer questions about what the other speaker saw at the zoo. - Sentence Patterns: What did you see at the zoo? – I saw ________. - Vocabulary: see, saw, pythons, crocodiles, peacocks, gorillas. 2. Skills - Listening and speaking 3. Attitude/ Quality - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - Confident in communicating with classmates - To help Ss loving English, love animals. 4. Forming competence - Easy to get to know, easy to make friends - Can perform individual tasks and solve a problem themselves - Use language to talk about how anmals. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: - What did you see at the zoo? + I saw . C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - address pictures - laptop, TV
  5. D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up Play badminton game with names of animals Activity 2. Look, listen and repeat Have pupils look at the dialogue on the screen - Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they are doing -Tell them that they are going to hear Linda and Tom are talking about what they saw at the zoo - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. Activity 3. Point and say - Play the CD twice for sts listen and repeat - Explain the pattern: What did you see at the zoo? I saw elephants. - Explain and Run through the key words/ phrases: python, peacock, crocodile, gorilla - Point at each picture and ask the question base on the model - Have sts practice asking and answering in pairs - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to speak to check their performance - Give feedback Activity 4. Let’s talk - Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about the zoo. - Run through 3 questions: When did you go to the zoo? – I went there . What did you see at the zoo? I saw . - Elicit the answers for questions one by one - Model - Get sts to work in pairs (or go around) to ask each other about the questions related to English in 5 mins - Call some groups act out their work - Give feedback Activity 5.
