- WEEK 25 UNIT 16: LET’S GO TO THE BOOKSHOP? LESSON 3 (1 - 3) Time: Monday, March 21st 2022 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Say the words that have one syllable, and more than one syllable - Listen and circle the letters showing the correct word completing the sentences. Then write the word and say the completed sentences aloud. - Say the chant Why do you want to ...? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Listening, writing and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves. - Be polite 4. Forming competence - Communication and co-operation. - Problem solving and creativity B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, loudspeaker D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up: Chain game - Have sts say out the words that have one – 4 syllables - Give feedback Activity 2. Listen and repeat - Have pupils look at the poster with the content of part 1 (sts’ book – Page 44) - Tell them they are going to learn how to pronoun the stress sounds with different words that have one to four syllables. - Produce the sounds with word one syllable: /book/ - Pronoun the word: ‘book/shop - Pronoun the word: ‘ba/ke/ry - Pronoun the word: su/’per/mar/ket - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each words to know their stresses. - Give the notes how to stress rightly with the words 2-4 syllables - Have sts give more words to practice Activity 3. Listen, circle and write. Then say aloud - Have pupils look and read the uncompleted sentences given. - Tell the pupils that they are going to listen to 4 sentences and circle the words they hear to fill in the gaps.
- - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and write. - Compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T gives the answer: Answer: 1- a 2- b 3- b 4- a - Have pupils practice reading the whole sentences Activity 4. Let’s chant: Why do you want to ? - Put the piece of paper with the chant from Page 44 written on it on the board - Tell pupils that they are going to chant - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen as they read. Clap the syllables. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat each line of the chant and clap the syllables. - Call on some pupils to perform the chant at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible Activity 5. Wrap -up - Summary the lesson - Tell sts to find other words that have 2-4 syllables UNIT 17: HOW MUCH IS THE T-SHIRT? LESSON 1 (1+ 2) Time: Wednesday, March 24th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about prices of clothes (singular). - Pupils can ask and answer questions about prices of clothes. - Sentence Patterns: How much is the ? ̶ It’s ____. - Vocabulary: scarf - 10,000 dong; blouse - 70,000 dong; jacket - 70,000 dong; skirt - 60,000 dong; jumper - 80,000 dong 2. Skills - Develop Ss reading, speaking and listening skills. 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Live responsibly - Know how to bargain and buy clothes - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence - Self- study and co-operation. B. - D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up: Counting song ` 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, . 100, .1000 T: I want to go to the bookshop. Sts: Why do you want to go to the bookshop? T: Because I want to buy a book. ? How to make a question when you want to know about price of something. Activity 2. Look, listen and repeat - Have pupils turn their books to Page 46 - Ask pupils about the characters in the pictures: Mai, Phong, mum and shop keeper - Elicit information from the pictures - Explain the meaning of the language practised - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. - Repeat the steps a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play. - Ask Ss to role play before the class - get sts’ ideas about the model sentences: - How much is the T – shirt? + It’s 50,000 dong. Activity 3. Point and say - Get sts say about the names of clothes and the price given - Run through the names of clothes and price given - Sts listen, point and repeat along - Explain the pattern: - How much is the T – shirt? + It’s 50,000 dong. - Ask pupils to point and say about the prices by asking and answing with: “How much..? - Have pupils look at the clothes and prices to practice in pairs to ask and answer aboout the prices. - Model * Pairwork: - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation - Call on all pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. - The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible.
