  1. WEEK 23 UNIT 15: WHEN’S CHILDREN’S DAY? LESSON 3 (1 - 3) Time: Monday, February 21st 2022 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Pronounce the initial letter clusters cl in clothes, close, and fl in flower and floor. - Listen and complete the sentences. Then say the completed sentences aloud. - Say the chant What do you do at Tet? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills Listening, writing and speaking 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves. - Studious and obedient students and love their family. 4. Forming competence - Communication and co-operation. - problem solving and creativity B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, loudspeaker D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up: Writing - Have sts come to the board and write the words that have letters /cl/ and /fl/ - Give feedback Activity 2. Listen and repeat - Have pupils look at the poster with the content of part 1 (sts’ book – Page 34) - Tell them they are going to learn how to pronoun the sounds with the /cl/ and /fl/ with different words. - Produce the sounds with /cl/ in clothes and close, and /fl/ in flowers and floor a few times. Ask pupils to say what they think about when they hear the sounds. - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation. - Give the notes how to pronoun /cl/ and /fl/ in the words given Activity 3. Listen and tick. Then write and say aloud - Have pupils look and read the uncompleted sentences given. - Tell the pupils that they are going to listen to 4 sentences and write the words they hear to fill in the gaps. - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and write. - Compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T gives the answer:

Let’s chant: What do you do at Tet? - Put the piece of paper with the chant from Page 34 written on it on the board - Tell pupils that they are going to chant - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen as they read. Clap the syllables. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat each line of the chant and clap the syllables. - Call on some pupils to perform the chant at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible. Activity 5. Wrap -up - Summary the lesson - Tell stw to find other words that have “cl” , “fl” REVIEW 3 Time: Friday, February 25th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Perform their abilities in listening, speaking and writing related to the topics from units 11-15, using the phonics, vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learnt. - Listen and number the boxes showing the details in the picture of Tet. - Read and fill the gapped paragraph with the words provided. - Read and match the questions with the answers. - Read and fill the gapped sentences, using the pictures. - Write about their father or other, using the writing frame. 2. Skills - Develop Ss speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, loudspeaker, overhead - poster D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Listen and number - Have pupils look at pictures a, b, c, d and e on page 36 of the Student Book. – - Give the identification of the characters in the pictures and the characters’ words. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and number the pictures they hear. Guess the answer - Play the recording 2 times pupils to listen and number the boxes. Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T give the answer: - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. Activity 2. Read and complete

Work in pairs to do the exercise then practice in pairs in front of the whole class. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. - Pair works. Have pupils trade their answers for correction. - Call on some pupils to report their answers. The rest of the class listen give comments. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the sentences. - Have the whole class read each sentence in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. Ask pupils to guess and complete the speech bubbles. - Model: Call on a pair. Allocate the parts of the characters in the pictures to the pupils. Ask them to ask and answer. - Using the pictures in their books. - Monitor the activity and offer help. - Correct pronunciation errors (stress, assimilation of sounds, intonation) when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform their task in front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. - Write about your father or mother - Ask ss to look at the text. Guide ss to do the task: they have to write about their father or mother based on guidance. - Call some ss read their answer. - Check and give a comment. - Asking Ps to focus on the structure once again. * Key: 1. seven thirty
