  1. WEEK 21 UNIT 14: WHAT DOES HE LOOK LIKE? LESSON 2 (1 - 3) Time: Wednesday, February 9th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions to make comparisons in physical appearance. - Sentence Patterns: Who’s ______? ̶ ______ is ______. - Vocabulary: tall – taller; short – shorter; big – bigger; small – smaller; old – older; young – younger 2. Skills - Listening and speaking 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Live responsibly, love themselves, family and friends - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Who’s ______? ̶ ______ is ______. - Vocabulary: tall – taller; short – shorter; big – bigger; small – smaller; old – older; young – younger C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - Students’ book (page 24) - laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm -up Writing shorts adjectives => Introduce short adj comparison Activity 2: Look, Listen and repeat - Ask pupils the names of the characters and where they are: Nam and Peter. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. - Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play. - Ask Ss to role play before the class. - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Who is taller? + My brother is taller than my father Activity 3. Point and say - Ask Sts to look at the pictures given. - Play CD for sts listen and repeat all the adjs - Read the words and have pupils read in chorus, individuals. - Explain the pattern: - Who is taller?
  2. + My brother is taller than my father. - Ask pupils about what they get information to say. - Tell them that they are going to make comparisons - Have pupils to make comparisons base on the model sentences - Call on all pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give respond. Activity 4. Let’s talk - Ask them to read the questions given: + What does he/ she look like? + Who’s taller/ shorter/ older? - Model - Ask pupils work in pairs to aks about physicai appearance and make comparisons. - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - Call on some sts to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible. Activity 5. Wrap – up 1. Summary the lesson - Have sts copy the adjs and their comparison forms Vocabulary: tall – taller short – shorter slim – slimmer big – bigger old – older young - younger 2. Guide sst do at home Make some sentences using comparisions with short adjs UNIT 14: WHAT DOES HE LOOK LIKE? LESSON 3 (1 - 3) Time: Friday, February 11th 2022 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Pronounce the initial clusters th in this, that, thin, and thick. - Listen and tick the letters showing the correct words filling the gapped sentences. Then say the completed sentences aloud. - Say the chant This is my family - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills Listening, writing and speaking 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves. - Studious and obedient students and love their family.

INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, loudspeaker D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up: Writing - Have sts come to the board and write the words that have letters /th/ - Give feedback Activity 2. Listen and repeat - Have pupils look at the poster with the content of part 1 (sts’ book – Page 28) - Tell them they are going to learn how to pronoun the sounds with the /th/ and with 2 different ways and words. - Produce the sounds with /th/ in this, that, and in thin, thick a few times. Ask pupils to say what they think about when they hear the sounds. - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation. - Give the notes how to pronoun /th/ in 2 ways and different words Activity 3. Listen and tick. Then write and say aloud - Have pupils look and read the uncompleted sentences given. - Tell the pupils that they are going to listen to 4 sentences and tick the words they hear to fill in the gaps. - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and repeat. - Compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T gives the answer: Answer: 1- a 2- b 3- a 4- b - Have pupils practice reading the whole sentences Activity 4. Let’s chant: This is my family - Put the piece of paper with the chant from Page 28 written on it on the board - Tell pupils that they are going to chant - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen as they read. Clap the syllables. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat each line of the chant and clap the syllables. - Call on some pupils to perform the chant at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible. Activity 5. Wrap -up - Summary the lesson - Tell stw to find other words that have “th”
