- WEEK 15 UNIT 10: WHERE WERE YOU YESTERDAY? LESSON 1 (1 + 2) Time: Monday, December 20th 2021 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Pupils can ask and answer questions about where the other speaker was the day before. - Sentence Patterns: Where were you yesterday? − I was ___ - Vocabulary: at home, at the zoo, on the beach, in the school library 1. Skills - Listening and speaking 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Love English - United friend 4. Forming competence - To know talk about where they were. - Practise in pairs C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - activities pictures - laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Warm -up: Questions: How are you? How old are you? Where are you from? - Show a video about activities that someone is doing Activity 2. Look, listen and repeat Have pupils turn their books to Page 64 - Ask pupils about the characters in the pictures - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. - Repeat the steps a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play. - Ask Ss to role play before the class Activity 3. Point and say - Play the CD for sts listen through the places - Sts listen, point and repeat - Explain the pattern: + Where were you yesterday? + I was ______________. am/is -> was
- are -> were - Ask pupils to point and say about the places they were at/in yesterday by asking and answering Qs given - Have pupils look at the places to practice in pairs to ask and answer base on the model - Model * Pairwork - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible. - Make a few questions to check pupils' comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus Activity 4. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about what someone did in the past. - Sentence Patterns: What did you do yesterday? − I ___. - Vocabulary: played badminton, painted a picture, watered the flowers 2. Skills - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Love their class - United friend 4. Forming competence - To know talk about their class - Practise in pairs B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: - What did you do yesterday? + I watched TV. C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - Students’ book (page 64) - Activity pictures on page 64 - laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm -up Sing action song Activity 2: Look, Listen and repeat
- 1. Look, listen and repeat - Ask pupils the names of the characters and where they are: Mai and Tony - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. - Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play. - Ask Ss to role play before the class. - Explain the meaning of the language practised. Activity 3: Point and say - Ask Sts to look at the pictures given. - Play CD for sts listen and repeat all the actions given - Read the words and have pupils read in chorus, individuals. - Explain the pattern: - What did you do yesterday? I played badminton. - Ask pupils about what they get information to say. - Tell them that they are going to ask and act out friends in pictures to answer what they did yesterday - Have pupils act out the characters to ask and answer using the model sentences - Call on all pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give respond. Activity 4. Let’s talk - Ask them to read the questions given: Where were you yesterday? What did you do? - Ask pupils to answer the questions. - Have pupils talk about themselves about where they were and what they did Ex: Yesterday, I was at school. LESSON 3 (1 - 3) Time: Friday, December 25th 2021 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Pronounce the final ed in played, watched, and painted.
- - Listen and tick the boxes showing the correct sounds of the final ed of the verbs in the sentences. Then say the sentences aloud. - Say the chant What did he do yesterday? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Develop Ss listening, speaking and reading skills, do exercises in book. 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Confident when talking English - United friend 4.Forming competence - Know how to practise some sounds - Practise in pairs B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Vocabulary: revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, loudspeaker D. Listen and repeat - Have pupils look at the poster with the content of part 1 (sts’ book – Page 68) - Tell them they are going to learn how to pronoun the sounds /ed/ with different words. - Produce the sound /ed/ in played, watched and painted a few times. Ask pupils to say what they think about when they hear these sounds. - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation. - Give the notes how to pronoun /ed/ in different words /d/ : after b, y, /t/: after: ch, k, /id/: after: t,d Activity 3. Listen and tick. Then write and say aloud - Have pupils look the sentences and pictures given.
- - Tell the pupils that they are going to listen 3 sentences and tick the sounds they hear - Play the recording twice pupils for listen and tick. - Compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T gives the answer: - Have pupils act out the dialogue in pairs or groups for correction. - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. Answer: 1- /d/ 2- / /t 3 – / id/ Activity 4. Let’s chant: What did he do yesterday? - Put the piece of paper with the chant from Page 68 written on it on the board. - Tell pupils that they are going to chant. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen as they read. Clap the syllables. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat each line of the chant and clap the syllables. - Call on some pupils to perform the chant at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible. Activity 5. Wrap -up - Summary the lesson - Tell what they did yesterday
