- WEEK 13 UNIT 8: WHAT SUBJECTS DO YOU HAVE TODAY? LESSON 2 (1 - 3) Time: Monday, December 6th 2021 A. OBJECTIVES - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about when someone has a subject. - Sentence Patterns: When do you have ___? − I have it on ___. - Vocabulary: Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri. 2. Skills - Listening and speaking 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Love their class, love subjects and love teachers. - United friend 4. Forming competence - To know talk about their subjects - Practise in pairs B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: - When do you have Science? + I have it on . C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - Students’ book (page 54) - Activity pictures on page 32 - laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm -up Sing the “Days of the week” song Activity 2: Look, Listen and repeat 1. Look, listen and repeat - Ask pupils the names of the characters and where they are: Nam and Tom - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. - Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play. - Ask Ss to role play before the class. - Explain the meaning of the language practised. Activity 3: Point and say - Ask Sts to look at the pictures given. - Ask Sts to look at the pictures given. - Play CD for sts listen and repeat all the days given - Read the words and have pupils read in chorus, individuals. - Explain the pattern: - When do you have Science?
- I have it on Monday and Thursday. - Ask pupils about what they get information to say. - Tell them that they are going to ask and act out Sam, Fred, Mimi, Winnie to answer when you have Science. - Have pupils act out the characters to ask and answer about the subjects - Call on all pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give respond. Activity 4. Let’s talk - Ask them to read the questions given: What subjects do you have today? When do you have English? Who is your _________ teacher? - Ask pupils to answer the questions. - Have pupils ask and answer in pairs. - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation (stress, assimilation of sounds and intonation), and offer help when necessary. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible. - Make a few questions to check pupils' comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus *Suggested answer: 1. I have Maths, Vietnamese, English and Science. 2. I have it on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. 3. It’s Miss .. Activity 5. Wrap – up a. Summary the lesson b. Guide sts to do exercises at home - Have sts do the ex C in WB. - Checking UNIT 8: WHAT SUBJECTS DO YOU HAVE TODAY? LESSON 3 (1 - 3) Time: Wednesday, December 8th 2021 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Pronounce the ending letter clusters ct in subject, and cts in subjects. - Listen and tick the correct boxes showing the words filling the gapped sentences. Then complete the sentences, and read them aloud. - Say the chant What subject do you have today? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills - Develop Ss listening, speaking & writing skills. 3. Attitudes/ Quality
- - Confident when talking English - United friend - Love English more 4. Forming competence - Know how to practise some sounds - Practise in pairs B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Vocabulary: revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - laptop, loudspeaker D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1: Warm -up Answer the questions: What subjects do you have today? What subjects does he have today? What subjects does she have today? What subjects do you they have today? - Give feedback Activity 2. Listen and repeat Have pupils turn to page 56 of their Student Books. - Tell them they are going to learn how to pronoun the sounds /ct, and /cts/ in the words subject, subjects - Produce the sound /ct/, and /cts/ a few times. Ask pupils to say what they think about when they hear these sounds. - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation. Activity 3. Listen and tick. Then write and say aloud - Have pupils look the sentences and given. - Get sts say aloud - Tell the pupils that they are going to listen 4 sentences and tick the words they hear to complete the 4 sentences - Play the recording twice pupils to listen and tick. - Compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again pupils check their answers. T gives the answer: - Have pupils act out the dialogue in pairs or groups for correction. - Ask some questions to ensure pupils’ comprehension of the listening text. * Answer: 1- b 2- a 3 – a 4 - b Activity 4. Let’s chant: What subjects do you have today? - Put the piece of paper with the chant from Page 56 written on it on the board. - Tell pupils that they are going to chant. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen as they read. Clap the syllables. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat each line of the chant and clap the syllables. - Call on some pupils to perform the chant at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible.
- Activity 5. Wrap -up - Summary the lesson - Do exercises E in workbook UNIT 9: WHAT ARE YOU DOING? LESSON 1 (1 + 2) Time: Friday, December 10th 2021 A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge - Ask and answer questions about what someone is doing. - Sentence Patterns: What’s he / she doing? − He’s / She’s___. - Vocabulary: watching a video, listening to music, writing a dictation, reading a text 1. Skills - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality - Love their class - United friend 4. Forming competence - To know talk about their class - Practise in pairs B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: What’s he doing? He’s reading C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - address pictures - laptop, TV D. LEARNING PLAN Activity 1. Look, listen and repeat Have pupils turn their books to Page 58 - Ask pupils about the characters in the pictures - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. - Repeat the steps a few times.
