  1. WEEK 15 TIẾNG ANH KHỐI 1 Time: Monday, Thursday and Friday (11th, 14th and 15th of December) UNIT 8: IN THE PARK Lesson 1 + 2 I. OBJECTIVES: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: + Remember and say some new words: hair, hand, head, horse. + Pronounce the sound of the letter: H/h + Say the letter H/h and the words hair, hand, head, hat, horse. + Listen and identify the words hair, hand, head, hat, horse. + Trace the letter H/h. 1. Knowledge/ Language focus: - Vocabulary: hair, hand, head, horse. - Sound: /h/ 2. Skills: - Listening and speaking. 3. Quality /Attitude: -Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss to become studious and obedient students; love something in the park 4. Competences: SS can develop some competences: -Comunicative and collaborative competence: work in pairs/groups, role play: work in pairs/groups, role play: work in pairs/groups, role play -Problem-solving competence: observing, collecting and analyzing information -Self studying and self - control competence: remembering, recalling and guessing words/phrases -Creative competence, linguistic competence: giving ideas, changing information, giving comments, critical thinking. II. TEACHING AIDS / MATERIALS: - Pictures, Textbook, computer, projector, pictures, recording III. METHODS: - Communicative language teaching, contextual teaching and learning, total physical response, games activities teaching, Model-Action-Talk, teaching methods by visual, direction method, audiolingual method. IV. PROCEDURE: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Activity 1: Warm up:5’ * Aim:help ss to be eager and happy to begin the new lesson. * Procedure: - Have ss to play game Pass the Card. - SS play game. - Place Ss in 4 rows.
  2. -Hand out picture cards of a goat, a girl, a garden and a gate to the first pupil in each row. -Have Ss in each row name the item/ person on each card as they pass the card to the classmate behind them. Activity 2. Listen and repeat: 13’ * Aim: help Ss to pronounce the sound of the letter H/h and remember and say some new words: hair, hand, head, horse. * Procedure: - Have Ss look at the picture, saying Look at the picture, please! and describe the picture. Draw Ss’ attention to the letter H/h, the - Look at the picture and listen. words next to the animal, parts of the body and the colour of the letter H/h. Check comprehension. -Ask Ss to point to the letter H/h. Have them listen and repeat the sound of the letter H/h -Point, listen and repeat. (saying Listen and repeat, please!) more than once, if necessary. Tell Ss to point to the girl’s hair and the word hair (saying Point to -Ss repeat. the hair and the word “hair”!. Ask them to listen and repeat the word (saying Listen and repeat, please!). -Follow the same procedure with the hand, the head and the horse. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. Give further -Ss listen and repeat. support to those Ss who find it difficult to do the task. -Play the recording again and have them listen, point to the letter H/h and the words hair, head, hand and horse and repeat until -SS listen, point and repeat. they feel confident. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. -Play the recording again and call a few Ss to say the letter H/h and the words hair, hand, head and horse in front of the class. -SS say in front of the class. *Outcome: pronounce the sound of the letter H/h and remember and say some new words: hair, hand, head, horse. Activity 3. Point and say:14’
  3. *Aim: help Ss to practise pronouncing the sound of the letter H/h and remember and say some new words: hair, hand, head, horse. *Procedure: - Have Ss look at the picture again, saying -Look at the picture and Look at the picture, please! Ask them to discribe. describe the picture. Draw their attention to the letter H/h and the animal, parts of the body in the picture. -Get them to point to the letter H/h and say it, saying Point to the letter H/h and say, please! -Let them point to the girl’s hair and say the word hair .Remind them of the sound of the letter h in the word hair. Then ask one pupil -Point and say to point to the hair and to say the word hair in front of the class. Check comprehension. - Follow the same procedure with other things. Give further support to those Ss who find it difficult to do the task. -SS do the action. - Ask Ss to work in pairs or in groups to point to the picture and say the sound of the letter B/b and the words. Go around and -Work in pairs or in groups. offer help or correct pronunciation, if necessary. -Invite two or three Ss to point to the picture and say the sound of the letter and the words in front of the class. -Point and say - T gets feedback. * Outcome: practise pronouncing the sound of the letter H/h and remember and say some new words: hair, hand, head, horse. Activity 4. Listen and chant:10’ * Aim: help Ss to read the chant with some words: hair, hand, head, hat, horse. * Procedure: - Have Ss look at the chant, saying Look at the chant, please! Draw Ss’ attention to the first verse and explain its meaning. Ask them to pay attention to the letter H/h and the words Hoa, head, hair. Check -SS look and listen. comprehension.
  4. -Play the recording for Ss to listen and to get familiarized with the rhythm. -Then play the recording for them to listen and repeat until they feel confident. Show Ss how to chant and clap their hands. - Play the recording all the way through. Ask Ss to listen and repeat the chant individually and in chorus, saying Listen -SS listen. and repeat, please! Give further support to those Ss who find it difficult to do the task. - Select some Ss to the front of the class to -Ss listen and repeat. chant and clap their hands. The rest of the class may sing the chant and clap their -SS listen and repeat the chant. hands along. * Outcome: read the chant with some words: hair, hand, head, hat, horse. Activity 5. Listen and tick :7’ * Aim: help Ss to improve listening skill with some words hair, hand, head, horse. -SS chant in front of the class. * Procedure: - Have Ss look at the pictures and ask: What can you see? Can you see a head and a hand? Yes, a head and a hand. Draw Ss’ attention to the boxes next to the letters a and b. Check comprehension. - Invite some Ss to point to the pictures and say the words in front of the class, E.g.: 1a. a head, 1b. a hand. - Play the recording twice or more if needed, -SS look and listen. ask Ss to listen and tick the correct boxes. -Set a time limit for Ss to swap and check the answers. Correct the answers, if necessary. -Call a few Ss to the front of the class to point to the pictures and say what they have heard. *Outcome: improve listening skill with some words hair, hand, head, horse. -SS point and say. Activity 6. Look and trace. 10’ * Aim: help Ss to look and trace with the sound of the letter H/h * Procedure: - Ss listen and tick. - Have Ss look at the letter H (upper case) and h (lower case). Ask Ss to make sure if they recognize the two forms of the letter. - Ss listen and check.
  5. - Tell Ss to trace the letter H/h. T can demonstrate by air tracing or tracing the *Key: 1.b 2. a broken lines of the letter H/h on the board. -Then let Ss do the tracing. Give further support to those Ss who find it difficult to do the task. - Check the results of Ss’ tracing and give feedback. Ask Ss to work in pairs and swap their answers. Give Ss time to work. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Ask some Ss to show what they have done. -SS look and listen. - With a better class, write the letter H/h in broken lines on the board and invite some Ss to trace them. *Outcome: look and trace with the sound of the letter H/h. -SS trace.
