- WEEK 30 Monday, April 10th 2023 UNIT 18: WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE TOMORROW? Lesson 2 (4-6) A. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about the seasons. - Read, listen, and write one word in each blank in the table. - Write about their favourite season and the weather, using the guiding questions. - Sing the song: The weather song. - Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: The song lyrics 2. Skills. - Listening, writing and reading. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love themselves, love nature. - Know how to protect yourself. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about the seasons. B. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... C. Preparation. 1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. D. Procedures. I. Warm up: Play the game “Pass the ball” - Model: What’s summer like? + It’s usually hot and sunny. There is/ are a lot of flowers. II. New lesson: 1. Listen and write one words in each blank: - Have sts to look at the table with seasons and weather given - Elicit the names of words in each line - Give instruction. - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and write the words into blanks - Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again for sts to check their answers.
- - Announce the answers. - Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text. *Key: 1. wind 2. winter 3. snow 4. hot 5. rain 2. Write about your favorite season and the weather. - Tell sts that they are going to write about your favorite season and weather - Have sts read the questions and check their understanding. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary - Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Give feedback * Suggested answer: My favourite season is summer. It’s usually hot and sunny. Today is cool and windy. It will be hot and sunny tomorrow. - Have sts read aloud the passage 3. Let’s sing: The weather song - Show the song “Healthy eating and drinking” - Have sts look at the pictures and give some ideas - Read the lyrics - Check comprehension - Play the recording the song all the way through - Have sts repeat each line of the lyrics a few times - Have sts sing along - Have sts practice singing and acting in groups - Call some groups sing aloud and do actions III. Wrap-up: - Have ss practice listening and speaking. UNIT 18: WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE TOMORROW? Lesson 3 (1, 2, 3) A. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Give intonation sentences correctly. - Listen and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gapped answers. Then say the sentences aloud. - Say the chant: What will the weather be like tomorrow? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills. - Develop listening and speaking skill. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends.
- - Educate Ss how to keep your body healthy 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about the listening task and read the chant. B. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Listen and repeat: - Have sts to look at the overhead’s screen, draw their attention to the sentences - Play CD for sts listen - Have sts repeat the focused on the sentence intonation a few times. - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors. - Call on someone to read aloud. - Give feedback 2. Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences: - Have pupils look at the questions with pairs of the answers given - Tell sts that they are going to listen and circle answer a or b - Play CD – sts listen and circle - Get sts’ answer - Give feedback * Key: 1. a; 2. b; 3. b; 4 . a - Have sts practice in pairs to ask and answer - Call some pairs say aloud - Give feedback 3. Let’s chant - Show the chant “What will the weather be like tomorrow?” - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension (What’s the weather/ summer/ winter like?) - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups.
- - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation III. Wrap-up - Practice speaking the learnt sentences. - Give feedback. Wednesday, April 12th 2023 Unit 18: What will the weather be like tomorrow? Lesson 3 (4 - 7) A. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Give intonation sentences correctly. - Read the passage, and do the tasks. - Write about the seasons and weather, using the writing frame. - Watch the weather forecast and report it to the class. - Colour the stars showing their English competences. 2. Skills. - Develop writing, speaking and reading skill. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends. - Educate Ss how to keep your body healthy. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about the listening task and read the chant. Knowledge: - Ask and answer about which place someone would like to visit. - Sentence Patterns: Which place would you like to visit, __ or __? – I’d like to visit ____. - Vocabulary: Thong Nhat Park, the Museum of History / Trang Tien Bridge, Thien Mu Pagoda / Ben Thanh Market, the City Theatre / Bai Dinh Pagoda, Hoa Lu Temple 2. Skills. - Develop listening, reading and speaking skill 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Love friends, hometown. - Know more places in hometown, in country. - Show pride of our country. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about the places in Nam’s country.

Look, listen and repeat. - Elicit the character - Look at the pictures to identify the characters (Peter and Nam) and the context in the book guess what the story is about and point at each picture to elicit their answers to these questions. - Introduce the dialogue. - Play the recording - Listen follow in their book. - Ss listen and repeat in chorus two times. - Have sts read in group of 3 to act out the dialogue - Elicits the structure - Ss give new structure sentence: Which place would you like to visit, .. or ? I’d like to visit .. 2. Point and say: - Teach vocabulary: pagoda, museum, temple, theatre - Note write down new words and read after T. Play game: What and where (Whole class) - Say phrases under the pictures. - Model sentence. - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Look and find out the model sentences. - Point the pictures and practise asking and answering question: Which place would you like to visit, .or .? I’d like to visit .. - Have sts use the prompts under the pictures to practice asking and answering.
- - All pairs perform their task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments. 3. Let’s Talk: - Give task - Have sts that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about the places they would like to visit; far or not? How to get there? - Have sts work in groups of 4 - Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. - Pupils practise answering the questions with information about themselves. - Correct their pronunciation and mistake III.
