- WEEK 22 Monday, February 13th 2023 UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 3 (1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Give intonation correctly when ask and answer about someone does in his/her free time. - Listen and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gapped sentences. - Say the chant: What do you do? - Sentence Pattern: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Ss will love outdoor activites, take part in activities actively, go out and play with other people some time. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (Ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Use language to talk about the listening task and read the chant. II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation. 1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures. I. Warm up: Answer the questions What do you do in your free time? II. New lesson: 1. Listen and repeat: - Have sts to look at the overhead’s screen, draw their attention to the sentences intonation - Play CD for sts listen - Have sts repeat the focused on the sentence intonation a few times. - Play the recording twice and ask Ss to repeat - Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary/ correct typical pronunciation errors.

Let’s chant - Show the chant “What do you do?” - Have sts run through the sentences - Ask sts read aloud - Check comprehension (What do you do? What does he/ she do?) - Ask sts to read aloud each line in the chant and clap their hands. - Ask them to listen again and repeat. - Have sts practice the chant in groups. - Call each group perform. - Correct and comment - Play the tape once to reinforce their pronunciation III. Wrap-up - Ask sts make out some more sentences and read with the right intonation - Practice chanting. UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 3 (4-5-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Give intonation correctly when ask and answer about someone does in his/her free time - Read the paragraph, and draw lines to match the characters with what they like doing. - Write about what their family do at weekends, using the writing frame. - Interview two classmates about what they do in their free time. - Colour the stars showing their English competences. 2. Skills. - Listening, writing, reading and speaking.
- 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Be active. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (Ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). II. Write about what your family do at weekend: - Have sts answer the questions: + What’s your name? + What do you do at weekend? +What does your father/ mother/brother/ sister do at weekend? - Checking understanding how to answer - Have sts write in 5 mins individually about what they do at the weekends - Remind sts how to write in correct way - Go around to help - Get sts swap and read their writing in pairs - Invite two or three sts to read their answers aloud - Get sts give feedback - Check and correct * Suggested answers:

Project: Interview two classmates about what they do in their free time - Have sts work in groups of 3 to do the projects - Model - Have sts do the project by interview ing and taking notes - Go around and check their work - Call some sts retell their task - Comment III. Wrap-up: Colour the stars - Have the class read the statements and check their comprehension - Invite sts to read statements aloud - Check their understanding the meaning - Sts colour stars base on the degree that they got from Unit 13 - Getting their ideas about difficulties to help Wednesday, February 15th 2023 UNIT 14: WHAT HAPPNED IN THE STORY? Lesson 1 (1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about what happened in a story. - Pupils can ask and answer questions about what happened in a story. - Sentence Patterns: What happened in the story? – First, / Then, / Next, / In the end, _ - Vocabulary: King Hung ordered Mai An Tiem and his family to live on an island. The island was very far away. One day, An Tiem found some black seeds and he grew them. The seeds gave watermelons. An Tiem’s family exchanged the watermelons for food and drink. King Hung heard about the story and he let An Tiem and his family go back home. 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Every story has its lesson. Read more to learn more. 4. What are they doing? – They’re reading a story What’s the name of story? -Tell them that they are going to hear Peter telling a story - Explain the meaning of the language practiced and some new words: king, order, watermelon, seed - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. - Explain the words: First, Then, next, In the end - Elicit the model sentences: What happened in the story? First, King Hung ordered . 2. Point and say: - Tell stst that they are going to practice telling the story in order by answering the questions: What happened in the story?
- - Have them look at the pictures and read the paragraphs of the story - Point at picture a and ask sts to tell what happened - Get them to practice in pairs to ask and answer abut each picture - Run through the phrases - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to ask and answer in pairs - Give feedback 3. Let’s talk: - Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about The Story of mai An Tiem. - Get sts to work in pairs to ask and answer - Monitor and help sts - Call some pairs act out their work - Give feedback III. Wrap-up: - Have sts retell the content of the lesson. - Practicing tell the story of Mai An Tiem. UNIT 14: WHAT HAPPNED IN THE STORY? Lesson 1 (4-5-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about what happened in a story. - Listen and number the pictures. - Read and fill the gapped story, using the words provided. - Sing the song Once upon the time - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: The song lyrics 2. Skills. - Listening, reading and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Every story has its lesson. Read more to learn more. - Love reading. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about a story in the past. II. Methods:

Listen and number: - Have sts to look at the 5 pictures given - Elicit the content of the pictures - Give instruction - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and number the pictures in right order - Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again for sts to check their answers. - Announce the answers. - Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text. *Key: 1 – b; 2 – d; 3 – e; 4 – a; 5 - c 2. Read and complete: - Tell sts that they are going to complete the passage with the 5 words and phrases given. - Give sts few seconds to read the passage in silence. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary - Get sts to work in pairs. - Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. - Divide the class into two groups and get them to read aloud the dialogue * Key: 1. princess 2. legs 3. apple 4. got up 5. In the end - Have sts read aloud the passage 3. Let’s sing: - Show the song “Once upon a time, ” - Have sts look at the pictures and give some ideas - Read the lyrics. - Check comprehension - Play the recording the song all the way through. - Have sts repeat each line of the lyrics a few times. - Have sts sing along. - Have sts practice singing and acting in groups - Call some groups sing aloud and do actions
