- WEEK 21 Monday, February 6th 2023 UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 1 (1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about what the other speaker does in his / her free time. - Sentence Patterns: What do you do in your free time? – I ____. - Vocabulary: surf the Internet, go to the cinema, clean the house, do karate 2. Skills. - Develop listening and speaking skill. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Ss will love outdoor activites, take part in activities actively, go out and play with your friends some time. - Ss help their parents to do housework. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about this topics. II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation. 1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation IV. Procedures I. Warm up: Network watch TV listen to music Free time go to activity play II. New lesson: read book 1. Look, listen and repeat: - Have pupils look at the dialogue on the screen - Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they are doing - Tell them that they are going to hear Tom and Nam are talking about what he does in his free time - Explain the meaning of the language practised.
- - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. 2. Point and say: - Play the CD twice for sts listen and repeat - Explain the pattern: - What do you do in your free time? + I ride my bike in the park. - Explain and run through the key words/ phrases: surf the Internet, go to the cinema, clean the house, do karate - Point at each picture and ask the question base on the model - Have sts practice asking and answering in pairs - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to speak to check their performance - Give feedback 3. Let’s talk: - Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about what he/she does in free time - Run through the question: - Do you like .? + Yes/ No - What do you do in your free time? + I . - Call some sts act out and give the questions for sts answer - Elicit the answers for questions one by one - Model - Get sts to work in pairs to act, ask and answer - Call some pairs act out their work - Give feedback III. Wrap-up: - Have sts retell the content of the lesson. - Practice speaking at home. UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 1 (4-5-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Read the question, listen, and tick the correct pictures.
- - Read and fill the gapped conversation, using the words provided. - Play the game A matching game. - Sentence Pattern: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills. - Develop listening, reading and speaking skill. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Ss will love outdoor activites, take part in activities actively, go out and play with your friends some time. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Warm up: Who is faster? - Show the pictures quickly and have ss to guess the actions and then answer the question: - What do you do in your free time? + I . II. New lesson: 1. Listen and tick - Have sts to look at 3 groups of pictures with activities given - Elicit the names of activities - Give instruction. - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and tick the correct pictures - Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again for sts to check their answers. - Announce the answers. - Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text. *Key: 1. b 2. a 3. b 2. Read and complete: - Tell sts that they are going to read the dialogue and fill the gaps with the 5 words given. - Give sts few seconds to read the dialogue in silence. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary

Wednesday, February 8th 2023 UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 2 (1-2-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about what the other speaker’s family member does in his or her free time. - Sentence Patterns: What does your do in his / her free time? − He / She is . - Vocabulary: father, go fishing / mother, go swimming / brother, go skating / sister, go camping 2. Skills. - Develop listening and speaking skill. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Ss will love outdoor activites, take part in activities actively, go out and play with other people some time. - Hobbies can be good for yourself and even better if we can share with other people. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). - Using language to talk about this topics. II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation.

What? - Elicit the context of the picture - Give the content - Play CD for sts listen and follow in their books - Play again – sts repeat - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play - Ask Ss to role play before the class. => Elicit the model sentences: A: What does your mother do in her free time? B: She goes shopping. 2. Point and say: - Have pupils look at pictures with activities - Run through the phrase words - Model (a) A: What does your father do in his free time? B: He goes fishing. - Give instruction - Point to each picture and ask what they do in their free time - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Ask sts work in pairs to ask and answer - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. 3. Let’s talk. - Have sts know what to do in this part - Tell the class that they are going to ask and answer about their real family memers do in their free time and how often they do - Run through. - Give instruction. - Model: T: What does your mother do in her free time?

III. Wrap-up - Ask sts to retell what their family members do in their free time - Have stst copy down and learn by heart model sentences. UNIT 13: WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? Lesson 2 (4-5-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Use the words & phrases related to the topics Free time activities. Ask and answer questions about what a family member does in his/her free time, using What does your ... do in his/her free time? He/She ... - Read, listen, and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gapped sentences. - Write about what their family members do in their free time, using the guiding questions. - Sing the song What do you do in your free time? - Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills. - Develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skill. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Ss will love outdoor activites, take part in activities actively, go out and play with other people some time. - Hobbies can be good for yourself and even better if we can share with other people. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation (ready to help friends in pair work/ groupwork). - Self-study (can perform individual tasks and solve problems by themselves). II. Write about What your family members do in their free time - Tell sts that they are going to write a task base on the questions given. - Give sts few seconds to read the questions - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give sts time to write - sts write - Get sts to swap and check their tasks. * Key: Sts’ answers - Call 3 sts read their writing tasks aloud - Give feedback: 3. Let’s sing: - Show the song “What do you do in your free time?” - Have sts look at the pictures and give some ideas ; - Read the lyrics. - Check comprehension - Play the recording the song all the way through. - Have sts repeat each line of the lyrics a few times. - Have sts sing along. - Have sts practice singing and acting in groups - Call some groups sing aloud and do actions III. Wrap-up: - Practice talking about what Ss’ families do in free time.
