  1. WEEK 18 Tuesday, January 3rd 2023 UNIT 11: What’s the matter with you? Lesson 1 (1-3) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about common health problems. - Pupils can ask and answer questions about the other speaker’s common health problems. - Sentence Patterns: What’s the matter with you? – I have ____. - Vocabulary: a toothache, an earache, a sore throat, a stomach ache 2. Skills: - Develop Ss’ speaking and reading skills 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Ss know how to take care their healthy. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation love schools and about common health problems. - Self-study ability, ability to operate, live responsibly. - Using language to talk about common health problems. II. Methods: Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... III. Preparation. 1. Teacher’s preparation: CDs player, stereo, book. 2. Student’s preparation: Students’ aids: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV. Procedures. I. Warm up: Body building II. New lesson: 1. Look, listen and repeat: - Have ss look at the dialogue on the screen - Ask ss the names of the characters and what they are doing - Tell them that they are going to hear Tony and his mum are talking about what’s the matter with him. - Explain the meaning of the language practised. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen, and point to the appropriate line in their books. - Play the recording again for pupils to repeat the lines in the speech bubbles. Repeat the step a few times. - Some Ss role play and the others comment. - Ask Ss to role play
  2. - Ask Ss to role play before the class. 2. Point and say: - Play the CD twice for sts listen and repeat - Explain the pattern: What’s the matter with you? I have a headache. - Explain and run through the key words/ phrases: a toothache; earache; a sore throat; a stomachache. - Point at each picture and ask the question base on the model - Have sts practice asking and answering in pairs - Monitor the activity and help sts if they need - Invite some pairs to speak to check their performance - Give feedback 3. Let’s talk: - Tell class that they are going to practice further by asking and answering questions about common health. - Run through the question: What’s the matter with you/ him/ her/ them? – I/They have He / She has . - Call some sts act out and give the questions for sts answer - Elicit the answers for questions one by one - Model - Get sts to work in groups of 6 to act, ask and answer the - Call some groups act out their work - Give feedback III. Wrap-up: - Have sts retell the content of the lesson. UNIT 11: What’s the matter with you? Lesson 1 (4-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about common health problems. - Read, listen, and tick the table. - Read, and fill the gapped sentences, using the words provided. - Sing the song What’s the matter with you? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: The song lyrics 2. Skills: - Develop Ss’ speaking and reading skills 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers.

Listen and tick - Have sts to look at the table with 4 names and 4 common health problems - Elicit the names and the common health problems - Give instruction. - Play the recording twice for pupils listen and tick the correct names with words - Ask sts to compare the answers with the partner. - Play the recording again for sts to check their answers. - Announce the answers. - Ask some questions to ensure sts’ comprehension of the listening text. *Key: 1. Read and complete: - Tell sts that they are going to read the 5 sentences and fill the gaps with the 5 words given. - Give sts few seconds to read the sentences in silence. - Check comprehension and give feedback. - Give sts time to do the task and go around and offer help if necessary - Get sts to work in pairs. - Get sts to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. * Key: 1. toothache 2. fever 3. earche 4. stomachache 5.sore throat - Call 4 pairs read aloud the sentences 3. Wrap-up: - Have sts retell how they learn English ? - Give feedback Thursday, January 5th 2023 Unit 11: What’s the matter with you? Lesson 2 (1-3) I. Knowledge: - Giving and responding to advice on common heath proplems. - Pupils can give and respond to advice on common health problems. - Sentence Patterns: You should / shouldn’t ___. − Yes, I will. Thanks. / − OK, I won’t. Thanks. - Vocabulary: go to the doctor, go to the dentist, take a rest, eat a lot of fruit, carry heavy things, eat a lot of sweets 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Ss know how to take care their healthy and to care for other people. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation love schools and about common health problems. - Self-study ability, ability to operate, live responsibly. II. Methods: - Communicative approach, group Ss and T's activities, play as a character, teaching methods with game, teaching methods by visual, teaching methods by practising, discussion group, technical present.... Point and say: - Have pupils look at pictures with things thay should do when they have health problems - Run through the phrase words - Use flashcards to teach the new words: take a rest, carry heavy thing, dentist - Model (a) A: You should go to the dentist B: Ok, I will.Thanks. - Give instruction - Point to each picture and ask what they should/ shouldn’t do - Have sts to repeat the sentences a few times. - Repeat the procedure with the second picture. - Ask sts work in pairs. - Call some pairs practice in front of the class. - Check sts’ mistake when necessary. - Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation. 3. Let’s talk. - Have sts know the situation: Their friend is not well. Advice him/ her . - Tell the class that they are going to act out the situations with common health problems and give advice - Run through. - Give instruction. - Model: T: mime (headache) Sts: What’s the matter with you? Lesson 2 (4-5-6) I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Giving and responding to advice on common heath proplems. - Listen and complete the table. - Read and complete the gapped conversations, using the words provided. - Play the game Charades: What’s the matter with you? - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision 2. Skills. - Listening, reading and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Be confident in communicating with friends/ teachers. - Ss know how to take care their healthy and to care for other people. 4. Forming competence: - Co-operation love schools and about common health problems. - Self-study ability, ability to operate, live responsibly. II.
