- WEEK 11 Tuesday, November 15th 2022 UNIT 6: OUR SCHOOL Lesson 3 (1-3) I. Objectives: 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - Correctly pronounce the sounds of the consonant clusters pl and cl in isolation, in the words playground and classroom and in the sentences Let's go to the playground. and Is that your classroom?; - Listen to and understand simple exchanges in relation to the topic “Our school”; - Read and write about a school 2. Core Competencies: - Teamwork, communication, planning and organizational skill 3. General competences: - Listening: listen and recognize the school, then repeat. - Critical thinking: talk about school, answer yes/ no questions. - Oral communication: talk about schools and places in the room, answer some questions. - Self-control & independent learning: perform listening tasks. - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups. 4. Attributes: - Diligence: complete learning tasks - Leadership: collaborate with teachers to enhance language skills. II. Resoures and material: - Student’s book Page 48 - Flash cards/ pictures, ppt and posters (Unit 6) - Computer, projector. III. Procedures. A. Warm-up: (5’) Game: Keep or give - Divide the class into teams. - Pupils take turns to answer the questions. They can choose to keep the point(s) for their team or give it to the other team (whatever the score is). - The team with more points is the winner. B. New lesson: 1. Listen and repeat. (8’) - Draw pupils’ attention to the consonant cluster pl, the word playground, and the sentence Let's go to the playground. Play the recording and encourage them to point at the letter/ word/ sentence during their listening.
- - Play the recording again and encourage pupils to listen and repeat. Do this several times until pupils feel confident. Correct their pronunciation where necessary and praise them if their pronunciation is good. - Repeat the consonant cluster cl. 2. Listen and circle: - Draw pupils’ attention to the sentences and the answer options. Play the recording for pupils to listen. Play the recording again for pupils to listen and circle the correct options. - Tell pupils to swap books with a partner, then check the answers as a class. Write the correct answers on the board. Play the recording for pupils to check their answers again. - Invite one or two pupils to stand up, listen and repeat the sentences. 3. Let’s chant: - Draw pupils’ attention to the lyrics of the chant. Check comprehension of the lyrics and give feedback. - Play the recording all the way through so that pupils can listen to the whole chant. Encourage them to listen carefully to the rhythm and pronunciation. Draw their attention to the sounds of the consonant clusters cl and pl in the words classroom and playground in the chant. - Play the recording line by line for pupils to listen and repeat. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to say the chant. Encourage them to clap along while they chant. - Divide the class into two or more groups to take turns listening to and repeating the chant, while the rest of the class claps along. C. Wrap-up: - Ask ss to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? - Know how to make suggestions. - Develop speaking and listening skill. 2. What are the core values of the lesson? - Complete learning tasks - Active participate in groups. UNIT 6: OUR SCHOOL Lesson 3 (4-7) I. Objectives: 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - Read and choose the words to complete the text
- - Read and complete a gapped paragraph about a school; - Make a poster and introduce their school to a new pupil 2. Core Competencies: - Teamwork, communication, planning and organizational skill 3. General competences: - Listening: listen and recognize the school, then repeat. - Critical thinking: talk about school, answer yes/ no questions. - Oral communication: talk about schools and places in the room, answer some questions. - Self-control & independent learning: perform listening tasks. - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups. 4. Attributes: - Diligence: complete learning tasks - Leadership: collaborate with teachers to enhance language skills. II. Resoures and material: - Student’s book Page 49 - Flash cards/ pictures, ppt and posters (Unit 6) - Computer, projector. III. Procedures. A. Warm-up: (5’) Game: Slap board - Divide the class into 2 teams. - Stick cards on the board. - Play the music and play. B. New lesson: 1. Read and complete. (8’) - Draw pupils’ attention to the picture to introduce the context. Minh is introducing his school to his friends. Tell pupils about the task. Have pupils read aloud the words to fill in. - Do the first blank with pupils to make sure that they know how to do the task. Give pupils enough time to complete the text. - Check the answers as a class. - Have pupils read the text aloud. 2. Let’s write: (9’) - Draw pupils’ attention to the first gap and ask them what the missing word is. - Have pupils write their answers. - Repeat with the next gaps. Give pupils time to write the answers. - Have some pupils read their completed paragraph aloud. 3. Project: (8’) - Point at the sample poster and explain that the pupil is going to introduce his school to some friends.
- - Have pupils show the photos or pictures that they have prepared for the project. Revise some structures and vocabulary that pupils need for their presentations. Give pupils time to practise their presentations by themselves. Go around the classroom to monitor and offer support. - Give pupils time to use their posters to practise presenting within their groups. - Select a few pupils to give their presentations in front of the class. - Have pupils go around their school to introduce some school rooms to their friends. One group introduces the school, and others act as new pupils. C. Wrap-up: (5’) - Ask ss to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? - Ask and answer questions about school. - How to make suggestions. - Develop speaking and listening skill. 2. What are the core values of the lesson? - Complete learning tasks - Active participate in groups, ready to help their friends. Thursday, November 17th 2022 UNIT 7: CLASSROOM INSTRUCTIONS Lesson 1 (1-3) I. Objectives: 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - Use the words open, close, stand up, sit down, go out, come in, speak, English, Vietnamese and please in relation to the topic “Classroom instructions”; - Use , ____ please! to give instructions; - Listen to and demonstrate understanding of simple communicative contexts in relation to the topic “Classroom instructions”; understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts (pictures) focusing on classroom instructions. 2. Core Competencies: - Teamwork, work standards, motivation, adaptability, communication, and initiative. 3. General competences: - Critical thinking: talk about school, look and guess the hidden pictures. - Oral communication: speak about school, ask and answer the questions - Self-control & independent learning: perform listening tasks - Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups - Problem-solving and creativity: answer comprehension questions
- - Sociability: talk to each other. 4. Attributes: - Diligence: complete learning tasks - Leadership: collaborate with teachers to enhance language skills. II. Resoures and material: - Student’s book Page 50 - Flash cards/ pictures, ppt and posters (Unit 7) - Computer, projector. III. Procedures. A. Warm-up: (5’) Game: Pick the carrots - Divide the class into 2 teams. Each team chooses one carrot to go to the question. - Have pupils listen and choose the right answer. - Back to the menu for another question. - Pupils take turns to play the game until there are no carrots left. - The team who gets the most carrots is the winner. B. New lesson: 1. Look, listen and repeat. (8’) - Have pupils look at Pictures a and b and identify the characters in the pictures. - Ask pupils to look at Picture a. Play the recording for them to listen. Play the recording again, sentence by sentence, for pupils to listen and repeat. Follow the same procedure with Picture b. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and repeat in chorus sentence by sentence. - Invite a few pairs to the front of the class to listen and repeat the sentences in the recording. - Draw their attention to the sentences Sit down, please! and Open your books, please! Tell pupils that they are classroom instructions. 2. Listen, point and say: (9’) - Have pupils look at the pictures and elicit the school thing and the character in each picture. - Have pupils point at Picture a, listen to the recording and repeat the phrase (open your book). Follow the same procedure with the other three pictures. - Point at the bubble and Picture a and have pupils listen and repeat after the recording (Open your book, please!). - Have pairs practise saying ______, please! with Pictures b, c and d. - Invite a few pairs to point at the pictures and give instructions for the class to act out Game: Slap the board. - Divide the class into four teams. - Stick the pictures of activities on the board.
- - Teacher says a sentence, a pupil from each team has to point/slap the right picture and says the sentence again. - The one who says faster will get points. 3. Let’s talk: (8’) - Draw pupils’ attention to the picture. Ask questions to help them identify the context (see Input). - Put pupils into pairs. Encourage them to give and respond to instructions. Go around the classroom to offer support while they are acting out the instructions. - Invite some pairs of pupils to the front of the class to act out the instructions C. Wrap-up: - Ask ss to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? - Listen to and demonstrate understanding of simple communicative contexts in relation to the topic “Classroom instructions”; - Develop speaking and listening skill. 2. What are the core values of the lesson? - Complete learning tasks - Active participate in groups, ready to help their friends. UNIT 7: CLASSROOM INSTRUCTIONS Lesson 1 (4-7) I. Objectives: 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - Use the words open, close, stand up, sit down, go out, come in, speak, English, Vietnamese and please in relation to the topic “Classroom instructions”; - Use , ____ please! to give instructions; - Listen to and demonstrate understanding of simple communicative contexts in relation to the topic “Classroom instructions”; understand and correctly repeat the sentences in two communicative contexts (pictures) focusing on classroom instructions. 2. Core Competencies: - Teamwork, work standards, motivation, adaptability, communication, and initiative. 3. General competences: - Listening: listen and recognize the contexts focus on introduce someone, then repeat - Critical Thinking: talk about friends - Oral Communication: speak about friends, ask and answer the questions - Self-control & independent learning: perform listening tasks

Warm-up: (5’) Chant and do activities. - Ask pupils to chant and do the actions in Unit 6, Lesson 3 in groups. - Give points for the groups and encourage them. B. New lesson: 1. Listen and tick (8’): - Draw pupils’ attention to Pictures 1a and 1b. Elicit the instruction used in each picture. Play the recording for Question 1. - Play the recording again for pupils to do the task. Play the recording a third time to give pupils another listening opportunity. - Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for Pictures 2a and 2b. - Get pupils to swap books with a partner, then check answers together as a class. Write the correct answers on the board. Play the recording for pupils to check their - Answers again. - If time allows, play the recording sentence by sentence for the class to listen and repeat in chorus. Correct their pronunciation where necessary. 2. Look, complete and read. (9’) - Have pupils look at the pictures. Have them identify the instructions used in each picture. - Have pupils look at the four incomplete sentences. Draw their attention to the missing words in the sentences. - Model with Picture 1. Have pupils look at the gapped sentence. Ask them what word is missing in the gap (Open). Then have them complete the sentence (Open your book, please!). - Follow the same procedure with Pictures 2, 3 and 4. - Have pupils complete the sentences individually and ask a few pupils to read them aloud. - Game: Slap the board. - Divide the class into four teams.
- - Stick the pictures of activities on the board. Teacher says a sentence, a pupil from each team has to point/slap the right picture and says the sentence again. - The one says faster will get points. 3. Let’s play (8’) - Put pupils into groups of 5 or 6. Choose one pupil from each group as a person who gives instructions for the rest of the group to act out. - Model by saying: Stand up, please! Pupils respond to this instruction by standing up. - Have groups play the game. One pupil in each group gives instructions for his / her group to act out. Explain that pupils who perform the wrong action are out of the game. - The winning group is the one that has the highest number of members left at the end of the game. C. Wrap-up: (5’) - Ask ss to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? - Understand classroom instructions. - Develop speaking and listening skill. 2. What are the core values of the lesson? - Complete learning tasks - Active participate in groups, ready to help their friends.
