- WEEK 15 Tuesday, December 14th 2022 Unit 1: At the school playground Lesson 3 A. Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Use Hi, I’m + name to greet and introduce someone’s name and Bye, + name to say goodbye to someone. - Sing a song about how to greet and introduce someone’s name. 2. Skills. - Listening, reading and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - To help Ss loving English. C. Teaching aids: CD, Phonics cards D. Procedure: I. Warm-up: Let’s chant - Greet the class and introduce yourself, saying: Hi. I’m + name. - Have a group of pupils to sing the chant on page 7 in front of the class. The class claps hands. II. New lesson: 1. Listen and repeat: - Have pupils look at the first picture - Play the recording for pupils to listen and repeat. - Have pupils look at the sentence “Hi, I’m Bill.” Explain the meaning of the sentence and how it is used (as mentioned in Input). Check comprehension - Play the recording several times for pupils to listen and repeat the sentence. Invite a few pupils to listen and repeat the sentence “Hi, I’m Bill.” in front of the class. - Correct pronunciation, if necessary or praise them if they pronounced the sentence correctly. - Have pupils look at the second picture. Play the recording for pupils to listen and repeat. Then explain the meaning of the sentence and how it is used. Check comprehension. - Have pupils look at the sentence “Bye, Bill.” Listen to the recording and repeat until they feel confident. Check comprehension - Invite some pupils to listen and repeat the sentences in front of the class. Go around and praise them if they performed well. 2. Let’s talk: - Have pupils look at the first picture. Point to the boy on the left and ask them Who is this? Tell them that he is Bill, saying He is Bill. Then point to the boy on the right and ask them Who is this? Tell them that he is Ba, saying He is Ba.
- - Ask pupils to work in pairs or in groups to practise greeting each other in the name of Bill and Ba. - Have pupils look at the second picture. Point to the boy on the left of the picture and ask pupils to identify who he is. Then point to the boy on the right and ask them And who is this? Tell them that he is Bill, saying He is Bill. Then select two pupils to act out in front of the class. - Ask pupils to work in pairs or in groups to practise saying goodbye to each other in the name of Bill and Ba. - Ask a few pairs of pupils to introduce themselves - Ask a few pairs of pupils to say goodbye to each other. - Encourage some pairs of pupils to practise introducing themselves and saying goodbye to each other in front of the class. Praise them, saying Excellent! if they performed well. 3. Let’s sing: - Have pupils read the lyrics. Play the recording several times for pupils to repeat line after line to make sure that they can sing the verse correctly. - Do the same with the second verse of the lyrics. Play the recording several times for pupils to repeat to make sure that they can sing the verse correctly. Check comprehension. - Have pupils listen to the whole song, drawing their attention to the pronunciation, the stress and the melody of the song. Then let pupils practise singing the song. Help them sing the song sentence by sentence first. Then help them to sing the whole song. - Call one or two groups to sing the song in front of the class. Praise them when they perform well, saying Excellent! IV. Wrap-up: - Pupils greet and introduce themselves, using their own names. - Give feedback - Ask sts practice at home. Thursday, December 15th 2022 Unit 2: In the dining room Lesson 1 A. Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Recognize and pronounce the letter Cc and its sound correctly - Understand, recognize and say the four Cc words - Develop listening, speaking skills 2. Skills. - Listening, reading and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality:
- - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - To help Ss loving English. C. Teaching aids: CD, Phonics cards D. Procedure: I. Warm-up: Ba Bill B ballb book II. New lesson: 1. Listen, point and repeat: - Introduction of letter C, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Bb. - Write on board the letter Cc to introduce to the students the new lesson. - Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter C /xi/. The letter C says /k/.” - Repeat several times and check students’ pronunciation - Use the phonics cards introduce cake, cat, car and cup read the words out loud and have students repeat. - Use pictures to help students to understand the meanings of the three words. - Stick the cards on board and have students repeat the words chorally several times. 2. Point and say: - Ask pupils to look at the picture on page 9 or Poster 2 again and ask them to describe the picture, paying attention to the letter C/c and the words they have learnt in Activity 1. - Get pupils to point to the letter C/c and say it. - Ask pupils to point to the cake on the table and say the word cake as a model. Remind them of the sound of the letter c in the word cake. Then ask one pupil to point to the cake and to say the word cake in front of the class. Check comprehension - Follow the same procedure with other things and the cat and correct pronunciation, if necessary. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task. - Get pupils to work in pairs or in groups to point to the things/pet in the picture and say the sound of the letter C/c and the words. III. Practice: 1. Look and match (Workbook): - Show the picture - Elicit names and things in the pictures - Get sts point and say names and things one by one - Call some sts point and say
- - Have sts match the wordswith right things in the pictures. - Go around to look and check sts’ work - Give feedback - Show the answer key * Key: 1- d ; 2- c ; 3 - b ; 4 - a 2. Look and circle (Workbook): - Show the content of the exercise - Point to each pictures, have sts say the names of things themselves - Run through the 4 words given – Sts listen and repeat - Have sts look at the words given and circle the right pictures. - Get sts’ answer - Correct and comment * Key: 1- a ; 2 – b 3- b 4- a IV. Wrap-up: - Have sts point and say again 4 words - Give feedback - Ask sts to learn by heart at home
