  1. WEEK 14 Tuesday, December 6th 2022 Unit 1: At the school playground Lesson 1 A. Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Recognize and pronounce the letter Bb and its sound correctly - Understand, recognize and say the four Bb words: Ba, Bill, ball, book - Develop speaking and listening skills. 2. Skills. - Listening, reading and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - To help Ss loving English. C. Teaching aids: CD, Phonics cards D. Procedure: I. Warm-up: Greeting - Greet the class by saying Hi. - Introduce your name I’m + name. - Encourage pupils to say their names and where they come from (in Vietnamese). - Introduce (in Vietnamese) Tiếng Anh 1 - Sách học sinh (the number of units, the number of lessons in one unit, and the number of activities in each unit). Have pupils open the books and look at Unit 1, Lesson 1 (Page 6). II. New lesson: 1. Listen, point and repeat: - Introduction of letter B, its sound and how to pronounce the words beginning with Bb. - Write on board the letter Bb to introduce to the students the new lesson. - Instruct students how to pronounce the letter name and the letter sound by saying: “This is the letter B /bi/. The letter B says /b/.” - Repeat several times and check students’ pronunciation - Use the phonics cards introduce Ba, Bill, ball and book read the words out loud and have students listen, point and repeat. - Use pictures to help students to understand the meanings of the three words. - Stick the cards on board and have students repeat the words chorally several times - Guide sts play the “Slap the board” game with the four words above 2. Point and say - Show pictures and have pupils look at the picture again - Ask them to describe the picture again (in Vietnamese). Draw their attention to the letter B/b, Bill and the things, if necessary.
  2. - Get them to point to the letter B/b and say it, saying Point to the letter B/b and say, please! - Ask pupils to work in pairs or in groups to point to the picture and say the sound of the letter B/b and the words. Go around and offer help or correct pronunciation, if necessary. Invite two or three pupils to point to the picture and say the sound of the letter and the words in front of the class. If they performed well, praise them, saying Well done! 3. Let’s play: Slap board - Write four words Bill, ball, bike and book or stick the flashcards with these words on the board and explain how to play. - Let’s play. - Raise the winner. 4. Look and circle (Workbook) - Show the content of the exercise - Point to each pictures, have sts say the names of things themselves - Run through the 4 words given – Sts listen and repeat - Have sts look at the words given and circle the right pictures. - Get sts’ answer - Correct and comment Key: 1 – b; 2 – a; 3 – a; 4 - b IV. Reinforcement: - Have sts point and say again 4 words - Give feedback - Ask sts practice saying the 4 words at home Thursday, December 9th 2022 Unit 1: At the school playground Lesson 2 A. Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Say the letter B/b and the words bike, ball, book and the phrases a ball, a book, a bike in a chant. - Listen and identify the words bike, ball, book. - Trace the letter B/b. 2. Skills. - Listening, reading and speaking. 3. Attitude/ Quality: - Have concentration, listen carefully, express idea during lesson - To help Ss loving English. C. Teaching aids: CD, Phonics cards
  3. D. Procedure: I. Warm-up: Matching - Show four pictures and have ss read aloud. - Stick pictures on the board and write the words and have ss match. - Correct and lead in new lesson. II. New lesson: 1. Listen and chant: - Have pupils look at the chant on p. 7 in their books. - Draw pupils’ attention to the first line and explain its meaning - Play the recording of the first verse for pupils to listen and to get familiarized with the tune, saying Listen to the first verse, please! - Play the recording again, ask pupils to listen and repeat the first line. - Select some pupils to the front of the class to chant and clap their hands. The rest of the class may sing the chant along and clap their hands. With better classes, help pupils change some line in the chant and sing it in front of the class. E.g. B, b, a ball. B, b, a book. B, b, a bike. A, ball, a book, a bike. 2. Listen and tick: - Have pupils look at the first two pictures and say what they can see. Draw pupils’ attention to the boxes next to the letters a and b. Check comprehension. Encourage some pupils to point to the pictures and say the words in front of the - Play the recording of the first phrase for pupils to listen. - Ask pupils to look at the last two pictures and listen. Play the recording (several times, if necessary) for pupils to listen and tick the box. - Ask pupils to say what they have heard and ticked. If some pupils say “a ball”, let them listen to the recording again Key: 2. b. 3. Look and trace: - Have pupils look at the letter B (upper case) and b (lower case). Ask pupils to make sure if they recognize the two forms of the letter. - Tell pupils to trace the letter B/b. Then let pupils do the tracing. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task. -. Ask pupils to work in pairs and swap their answers, saying Now work in pairs and check the answer. Give pupils time to work. Go around and offer help, if necessary. - Ask some pupils to show what they have done. Praise them if they have done well. - With a better class, write the letter B/b in broken lines on the board and invite some pupils to trace them. IV. Reinforcement: - Learn by heart the chant
